Apple Cider Waffles 🍎🧇
If there’s one thing we can all agree on, it’s that waffles deserve their own holiday. And lucky for us, International Waffle Day is here to give this crispy, golden breakfast (or brunch, or let’s be honest-anytime) favorite the celebration it deserves!
And what better way to honor the day than with a recipe that perfectly balances warmth, spice, and a little something special from the orchards? Enter: Apple Cider Waffles.
These waffles are infused with the rich, caramelized flavor of Kristof Farms Whisper Cider, which gets reduced down to concentrate every bit of crisp apple goodness. Paired with cinnamon, a hint of sweetness, and a beautifully crisp exterior, these waffles might just become your new go-to.
Apple Cider Waffle Recipe
Ingredients:
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
A pinch of salt
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 large egg
2 cups Kristof Farms Whisper Cider
Instructions:
1️⃣ Prep. Preheat your waffle iron and spray it with nonstick cooking spray.
2️⃣ Reduce the Cider. In a saucepan over medium heat, reduce Kristof Farms Whisper Cider until it thickens slightly and its flavors concentrate. Set aside to cool.
3️⃣ Make the Batter. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, sugar, and cinnamon. Add the egg and reduced cider, then whisk until well combined.
4️⃣ Cook. Pour the batter into your preheated waffle iron and cook according to the manufacturer’s instructions, until golden brown and crisp.
5️⃣ Serve. Remove from the waffle iron and serve warm. Top with whatever you like: syrup, whipped cream, fresh fruit, honey, or even a little extra cider reduction!
Want to really elevate your waffle game? Try topping these with:
🍏 Caramelized apples: Sauté sliced apples with a little butter and cinnamon for a warm, spiced topping.
🍯 Cider glaze: Whisk together powdered sugar and a splash of reduced cider for a sweet, apple-forward drizzle.
🍦 A scoop of vanilla ice cream: Because waffles aren’t just for breakfast. Or maybe ice cream isn’t just for dessert?
There’s no better time to enjoy these cider-kissed waffles than International Waffle Day (or any day for that matter)! Whether you’re gathering friends for brunch, having a slow weekend breakfast with family, or want to bring something a little different for the dessert table at your next dinner party or book club, this recipe is guaranteed to make the day extra delicious.
